Replacement guttering, soffits, fascias etc quote

Hi, we've not got traditional soffits and fascias on our house, it just has the exposed timbers which are painted brown. Because our guttering is crap (and also painted brown!) some parts of this aren't in the best condition and the guttering drips constantly so we want to resolve it before we end up with damp. We've had a roofer recommended to us and he has given us a quote, just wanted to validate that it's the right sort of price and what we need to get done.

The quote says;

PVC Roofline (main Roof)
To remove existing guttering and prepare fascia boards. Fix new timbers to sloping soffit and cut hollow soffit boards, fixed with polypins. Fix new over clad fascia boards and corner joints. Fix new guttering laid to fall into new fall pipes. Remove rubbish. £1600

(house is 10.27m wide x 6.34m deep)

    I can't comment on the price, other than to say you should always get 2 quotes at least, ideally three. Most/all 'window' companies, for example, should do these sorts of jobs, as well as even good handypeep-type folk (but they'd need to come with references and/or previous examples or work; "Have a look at No5 around the corner - we did that one...".

    Have you seen any other houses done in the 'hood? If so, knock on their door - and stand well back with a mask on - and ask.

    What I would say, tho', is make sure they add more-than-adequate ventilation to the soffits. Has the quoting company mentioned this?

    Have you seen this roofer's work?

    Have you thought about the size and style and colour of the replacements? This will make a signifiant difference to your house's overall appearance, so look at yer hoosie and think it through; Anthracite? Black? White? More broon...? Round? Ogee? Squareline? Deepflow (quite possibly a serious consideration as there's been a few issues brought up on this forum about gutters not being able to cope with recent downpours...)

    ('Deepflow' doesn't look significantly bigger, so don't worry about it 'sticking out' aesthetically)

    Also look at similarly-styled houses in the 'hood - what colour and style have they gone for?
