Good soggy morning everyone - advice appreciated
My mother is 94; seriously disabled; living at home with appropriate equipment for her disabilities; cannot do anything for herself; is unable to walk.
I am her full time carer / daughter and I live next door to her - I am responsible for all her care needs. Our housing company are regenerating the whole area and our flats are to be emptied and eventually demolished; we will move to new builds across the road within the next few months this year. All involved will receive a government compensation sum (mum's will be approx. £10k) in order to cover finances of being forcibly moved - new white goods; furniture etc. The housing will help with the physical moving.
She has no other income or savings.
Mum receives the following benefits:
- Pension credit
- Attendance allowance
- Basic state pension
- Council tax and rent are paid
- Winter fuel payment
Will the government compensation of approx 10k affect her benefits given it is not her choice and it's for setting her up in her new home?

AA, State Pension and Winter Fuel Payment are not means tested.
If she gets guarantee Pension Credit then capital is disregarded for HB and CTR.
For Pension Credit itself the first £10,000 of capital is ignored.
Presumably she's only going to have the money for a brief period anyway.
Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.1
