O/S Daily Thursday 11 March 2021
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Still dark and very blustery, damp underfoot with more rain forecast.
DH and DS1 getting ready for work, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge whilst on here. DS2 settled and ok.
Dinner last night was chicken with a mixed herb coating, potato gratin and sweetcorn - very nice it was too. Not sure what we'll be having tonight but will organise something. I have an Optician's appointment first thing, so on the way back I'll call in at the SM to get something for dinner. I, as always. have a "to do" list. so will get on with that asap.
Yesterday work was busy - I had my formal meeting etc, so now know the next steps and will be doing what's needed over the coming days.
Keep safe and well x

Morning All
Thanks for the start nmlc, hope the meeting all went in your favour.
Grey and cloudy today, it was really wet and windy again last night but I slept through it thank goodness although did wake up at 5.
The car has a service and MOT today, we have a local garage that collects and returns cars from work which is a great service and he's very reasonable too, just hope nothing major needs doing.
Nothing of note has happened, quite boring really, hope your days are more exciting than mine!
Hugs to those in need, take care. XX13 -
Good morning, it's wet here, but daylight! Thanks for starting NMLC, glad you've had some news at last.I hope all the birthday people enjoyed their days, don't know if it's anyone's today, happy birthday if it is.Sorry to hear you've had a fall Maddie, shakes you up a bit doesn't it.AOD, hope today will not be too painful for you.Nothing in particular happening today, and we weren't out yesterday at all. I've got a bag of trousers to take up for a friend, I really should make a start on those, they are all straightforward I think. To be honest I don't like doing alterations, I do ours of course and anything for the family/extended family, but it's not my favourite job..I always do them for this friend though, she's an old lady, and has been very kind to us and our family over the years. Anyway, they're only hems, nothing complicated. That's my day as far as I know, unless anything exciting happens which it probably won't!!Hope everyone gets through their day without falling over, or any other painful occurrence.Take care folks.15

Morning folks. After a few busy days I was whacked yesterday so went to bed extra early and slept well. The only thing on the horizon for today is perhaps picking up my laptop though I suspect it'll be tomorrow. I've wrestled my old laptop into submission for now. If the weather is OK I'll go for a walk, my gait is still wonky and it won't get better by sitting around!
Hugs to all. Happy Thursday to all too.14 -
Morning folks and thanks NMLC. The weather is living up to forecast. Heavy rain battering us all night and the wind is gale force. It's recycling day but in view of the forecast I didn't put the wheelie out last night. Other folks knew best and put theirs out!! There is much crashing and banging going on with rubbish blowing around everywhere. As usual, because I am on the corner, most of it will end up in my garden. I get it from all directions. Grr! Rant over!
My birthday tomorrow so the Friday Tidy is brought forward to today. Birthdays are a day for doing nothing! My bf is dropping my pressie off around lunchtime today but there will be no doorstep chats in this weather!
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for all in need of them. AOD I hope last night was a more comfortable one and you got some sleep. MADDIE I hope no delayed reaction to your tumble. Thinking of all the poorlies, convalescents, carers and p***d off. Take care x

Morning everyone
Busy week so far as I'm back to work full time - I'm tired already and it's only Thursday! It's been really windy through the night, but seems to have dropped a bit this morning - I'll be careful going down the hill on my bike though.
Little one came up last night for a play and her tea - she had a lovely build with her Duplo.
I'd better make my packed lunch and wash my dishes.
Hope everyone has a good day today14 -
Morning all
Its been a very windy night and I heard things crashing all night cant see any damage in the garden though, if the wind is at a certain angle it whistles through the bedroom window so that kept me up a fair bit too, OH sleeps through anything !!
OH and dd got their test results back both negative so they are both back at work today, Im not sure how OH will get on though as his tools are in the customers house who has covid !!
Got some men coming to cut the back hedge later today (weather permitting) I got a very good deal on the price but next door have refused to pay anything towards it(its a shared hedge) which they did last time and then asked the chap to do their side which he felt obliged to do and they gave him £10 !! bit of a cheek really,, so I have warned the man today to charge them if they ask for their side done - will see what happens !!
Will get the dogs to the park for a quck run this morning then do a bit of housework.
Dinner tonight is filled pasta with salad.
Hugs to AOD and Maddie xx
Have good days all and take care xx
Nels are you ok ?? xxx14 -
Morning all
Thanks for the thread nmlc and hugs to all those in need.
Wet and windy here, the water is full of debris.
Scarlett, that reminds me of a work colleague who asked me to shorten a pair of trousers, at the time I charged £3 per pair. When she collected them she gave me £1 explaining that she felt that was sufficient, funnily enough I was always too busy when she asked in future!
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.13 -

Good morning all; a bit brighter here today and the sun is currently shining.
Today DH is taking his car to have new tyres fitted. He had to phone and make an appointment for it and I can't decide whether to go with him or not. We could go for a stroll whilst the work's being done so I'll wait and see what the weather's like at the time.
Other than that I only have ironing to do. Made a small sponge cake yesterday and used up the last of the freeze dried raspberries in it plus a few sprinkled on top with the icing. They were a bit sharp so won't be buying any more. We do like to have a bit of cake in the house but our waistlines suffer for it!
Have a good day everyone.14 -
Morning all, well the sun is out after a stormy night, don't think it will last though as the clouds are already ganging up.Today I have so many things I want to do and I'm in a dither as to what to do first ! I need to do an online sm shop, clean the halogen cooker, the coffee maker, make a lemon curd cake, do a load in the wm, check my stash of material and lots more. Perhaps I'll start at the first one and see how I go, probably go off on a tangent after the first hurdle
Oh well there's always tomorrow untouched. I'm going to do HM chicken balls in a sweet and sour sauce with rice for tea, we haven't had that for ages.
Maddie ouch ! Hope you're ok, a fall really upsets your equilibrium for a while. Take things easy for today.RedRuby good news re the covid negative results, a bit awkward for OH getting his tools though.Scarlett you have reminded me that I have some mending to do, I'll have to add it to my list 😣NMLC at last you have had your meeting, hope you can now sort things out to your advantage. Now I must stop procrastinating and make a start.Take care all, stay safe and keep well.nan xxFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently14
