SEISS LATE SELF ASSESSMENT

Hi I'm late with with self assessment 2019/20 because of HMRC inadequacy. Took me 5 months and a dozen phone calls to find out why I couldn't do Tax Return online like previous 8 years. Eventually I was told I had to do paper self assessment as I entered type of bankruptcy in 2019. I was sent this this week but I'm now to late for SEISS Grant 4. Anybody any idea if would still chance of getting grant if I put in complaint. Paper tax return sent away today . Cheers Neil

Probably the only ones who know are HMRC.

That said, you've had 11 months to file the return and it only took you 5 months of calls (did it really have to take this long?) so I'm not convinced it will be a valid reason.
  • I was asking for someone who had been in same situation . No really needing somebody to guess. Cheers anyway.

It's an incredibly niche situation to be in. The likelihood of finding anyone is pretty slim.

The likelyhood of being entitled to the 4th SEISS is very slim because the latest date for your tax returns is 2nd March 2021, and later than that means you're not eligible for the grant. https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/self-employment-income-support-scheme-grant-extension/self-employment-income-support-scheme-grant-extension

Poppy is correct. And there’s no right of appeal.

Why have you put in the complaint if it was for someone else?
Just say it's for you, we're all friends here. Can't stand this 'asking for a mate' nonsense.

I didn't read the comment as the OP was asking on behalf of someone else. I read this here as they were hoping someone who'd been in the same situation would answer their question... meaning, hoping for someone to come along and say "yes, the same thing happened to me last year but i still received the grant" sort of thing..
