Support, Help, Info?

Hi all! First time posting in here, hope some people can give me advice, help or information on my current situation.

So near enough the end of October 2020 I successfully got a new job, its working in the valeting industry for a friends uncle its a well known franchise in the UK and this was a New business venture for my friend’s uncle.

As well as this job I also have another job working part time in a restaurant.

My problem is that obviously we couldn’t open/work during the lockdown since beginning of Christmas/New Year and not due back until April 12th. That’s 4 Months of no work from both Jobs.

Now because I started the restaurant job and on their payroll at the restaurant before the end of October, I was eligible for the furlough scheme which covers part of my income.

However my main job I was told I was not eligible for the furlough scheme due to it being a new business, it wasn't registered in time  before a certain date in October.

I have never ever received benefits in my life, now at the age of 29 I attempted to apply for Universal Credit last month to see if I was eligible for anything and currently along with the furlough money from the restaurant, I get another £28 from Universal Credit a month.

Im just wondering if anyone is/has been in the same boat as me and what you did about it?

Im consider myself lucky as I have some savings that I have set aside to keep me going but is there really not a lot I can do?

I’m not a lazy person as you can see I was working 2 jobs...I’ve been very depressed and discouraged at this situation when it seems like if i was on benefits with a few kids in a council house I’d be better off...

Thank you in advance!

Bit odd you only got £28 unless your wage is huge
Do a check here of what you could get

As a single person over the age of 25 with no rent your UC maximum entitlement would be £409.89 per month. Any earnings received (including furlough) would reduce your UC by 63%. How much UC you're entitled to will depend on how much earnings you receive. A benefits calculator will tell you if the amount of UC is correct.
