Children now aged 15,16 What now?

Hi All, just some advice please. children are now aged 15,16 i dont know where they are since ex was deported 1993. have no address or any contact details. i have looked on the web etc DOB surnames. Friends reunited and other sites. but no joy..My question is how do i know when the eldest has left school and started his career? When do the CSA inform me? or do i ask them. Do my payments stop or increase or by a miracle lower.

i have paid since 1993 and seem to get ni onfo from CSA staff for location or even a hint on where in the UK.

Any advice would be great as i am now wondering on what they are doing and still no joy on where they might be.

many thanks

The CSA are not allowed to inform you of the other parent's whereabouts.

You say your ex was deported in 93

Well you can't but you can ask the CSA to chase up to ensure that Child Benefit is in payment for them - if not then they can take the child off the case.

    HI

Just because they are reaching the ages of 16, doesn't automatically mean that you will no longer be liable to their costs. It may be that your children will go into further education, in which case your liability will continue.

Further education until they are 19 but not uni - which is a shame because when they leave home is when they most need the money!

Hi Kelloggs, could you please clarify that. Do you mean, that the NRP is liable if the child is in FE only until the 19th birthday, except for a uni student regardless of age, until their studies are finished, whatever their age??

I think I have said that right!

No, the NRP is liable up to 19 if the child is in full time non-advanced education. If they go to Uni, CSA would end the case, as the QC is no longer a qualifyng child. Non-advanced courses are usually for a year, or less.

(And if a QC claims a benefit in their own right, or marries, they are no longer considered a child.)

    Hope that clears things up.

Uni is higher education and is not under the jurisdiction for the CSA. A child can apply directly with the Courts for maintenance whilst at uni but it is very rare.

Dunno ;) as i'm not the OP but...from reading bigwheels36 previous posts it seems that he is in the army and he, his wife and kids were based in Germany and due to one thing or another his wife was deported back to the UK.
