RESTART GRANT FOR HAIR SALONS

Are hair salons getting up to £18000 restart grant in April? I'm confused, because I read that non essential shops were getting up to £6000, but that hair salons and gyms would get up to £18000, because being heavily impacted by restrictions.

Eligible hair salons will be able to claim up to £18,000 through the scheme. Why are you confused?

Because it said that non essential shops would get up to £6000. Hair salons are non essential, and they are one of first to open. Other shops opening later getting up to £18000. That's why I'm con used, so I thought because hair salon heavily impacted, and close contact, they said up to £18000. Are you certain it is up to £18000.

Hair dressers will open under the personal services category later than non-essential retail. The grant is also "up to" not a fixed sum.

Hair salons opening 12th April, and yes under personal care. So I take it retail shops opening before April 12th?

I understand the restart grant are  to £18000, in three different amounts, probably, £6000, £12000, and £18000, because of the rateable value tiers, but I did not think hair salons were opening later than non essential retail shops. I thought it was same date, April 12th. That's why I'm confused.

Non-essential retail and hairdressers can open from 12th April. What is the confusion?  I assume the difference in grants may partly be because shops could at least operate online or click and collect which isn't really possibly for hairdressers

In the road map, personal care opens (not earlier than) 12th April - the same date as retail, gyms, etc.

You can't just relate it to this lockdown, in previous lockdowns non essential retail opened before hairdressers, gyms etc.
