Just had a message from the buyer does not like the item blah blah blah.
Wants a return I guess I got no choice but to accept a return, what about the return postage label, do I have to pay for it,  for example If a send a UPS label but the buyer can't wait in all day then what happens.
I don't want to send a label after I've paid for it and buyer says I can't use ups

Don't accept the return? I had this with a buyer on eBay and rejected the return. Providing its not faulty they cant do anything about it

Is a case open? If it's purely a change of mind return you don't have to pay for it, but if the buyer has claimed Not As Described, and a case is open, eBay provide their own label through Royal Mail, which is probably more convenient for them as they can drop it off at a post office.

It's probably best to find out what's easiest for the buyer in this regard. It depends if they're out all day like I am or working from home, but sending them a label that they can use is a better start than insisting they use your choice of courier. I would have a problem with a courier coming to my home during the day who didn't have a safe-place service, but I can put a package with a printed label into my workplace post as they are happy to pick up and deliver personal post. Hermes is one courier that can pick up items from a safe place, so suggest that to them if they can't wait in for UPS.

With eBay labels, you don't pay until the package enters the postal system, so if buyer changes their mind about returning you won't pay.

If OP is a business they're legally obliged to accept change of mind returns as well as for items not as described. Technically OP can decline the return if they are a private seller, and if they are a business they can ask the buyer to pay postage providing their terms and conditions are stated up front (otherwise they are still obliged to pay for returns) but it is probably less hassle in the long run to get the buyer to send the item back.

It they just don't want the item, they have to pay postage themselves.  You only have to if the item is not as described or if you'd sent completely the wrong thing.  You will have to refund the whole of the original sale price though, including initial postage.

im a private seller, the case is open and ive accepted return ( i thought i had no choice as ebay always goes with the buyer),

return detail states 'Doesn't match description or photos'
which is ridiculous as i stated the size of the item to the mm in the description, but they say its to small!
ill take the hit on 2 x postage, item is £100 in value

in the return detail it states "Take the next step Buy a return postage label from a postage courier, then upload it to share it with the buyer. Make sure the label includes tracking, so you're protected in case the package gets lost. You can also confirm you already sent a postage label, or if you can't provide a label."
below thats it ask to click one of:
    Upload your own label
    or
Confirm you already sent a label
    or
Confirm you can't send a label

As stated above i believed eBay provides a label and they add to my bill, but it does not give that option, If send a ups label that should be OK?

Would assume if you click on "Confirm you can't send a label" Ebay will provide label and add to your bill.

Strange that eBay isn't offering a label through the return, is this an oversized item?

If you give the buyer a label eBay won't care about the buyer having to wait around for a collection, they either use it or the case will not be found in their favour.

One would assume that but this is ebay and I don't want eBay to give automatic refund if I refuse to give a label and the buyer also keeps item.

I think I will buy a ups label and add the pdf attachment and tracking to the return detail, and if it arrives back video the box opening.

    Item is medium ups box ie 50cm x 40cm x 20cm approx

So this is what I did to see what would happen, it now says on the return detail the buyer has until a certain date (about 2 weeks) to post the item,

so does that mean eBay have created a label for the buyer to print and I just have to wait for the item to be returned?
