Currently cleaning up a bike ready for sale. Alloy components like the wheels are looking dull and dark. Is there a way to brighten them up without using harsh abrasives etc?

Try using some Autosol on them.2

Put a small amount of water on some silver foil (baking foil) screw into a ball and rub away.

I once cleaned up headlamp lenses (looked like new after) using cheap toothpaste and a soft cloth. I reckon that would work on alloy.
