BA Flight Options

Hello All
I was wondering if anyone might be able to help me understand my options in relation to return flights that my wife and I have booked to travel to Cyprus with BA in April?
These were booked direct on the BA website (on a single booking) in July 2020, in anticipation of attending a wedding, which has now been postponed one year until April 2021 due the COVID restrictions in place in Cyprus.
Given the postponement, I was planning to ask BA for a voucher for the value of the flights, however today I have received an e-mail from BA, telling me that the return flight has been cancelled and offering a flight 4 hours and five minutes earlier on the same day (on a new flight number). Even if the wedding was still occurring, this would not have worked for us, since we had activities planned for this day with the wedding group.
Does this cancellation of the return flight enable me to ask BA for a refund, rather than a credit voucher? I would prefer this, as it would allow me to have the flexibility to rebook with another carrier if better flights are available. I know I can call BA discuss, but would rather try and understand my options first as best as possible.
Thank you in advance for any help offered.
Kind Regards

Thank you Westin, and just to confirm, your understanding woud be that we would be eligable for a refund for both the outbound and inbound flights?
Thank you so much for your help.

Yes, if one flight is cancelled, you can get refund for both flights on the same ticket/reservation.

Penelopa.Pitstop beat me again in the Wacky Race.
Answer from Mutley is "Yes" - you should be able to ask for and receive a refund on both sectors as presumably booked as a round trip ticket.0 -
That's great - yes, all booked as round trip tickets on single booking.
Many thanks to you both. I will get in the phone and request a complete refund then.
Might take a while to come back to me though, although fortunately I won't need the funds until rebooking becomes necessary.
