Cancellation/refunds on UK holiday this year?

My son wishes myself and my partner to go on holiday with him and his partner.
The arrangements would be two separate holiday chalets, and he is thinking of late May/early June.
He is informing me that the holiday owner is promising in print(if that makes any difference?) full refund or vouchers for another time in the event of cancellation due to Covis19.
I am very wary of obtaining full refunds etc in the event of being unable to travel due to whatever issue with Covid19 preventing us.
In my experience guarantees very often have to be fought for in these cases using legal assistance.
Am I being too wary or not, any help/advice would be welcomed.
Thank you.

You need to check the exact terms to see if it covers your likely scenario. ie who cancels and why.
But rarely are guarantees 'fought for with legal assistance'.1 -
Will teh guaranteed refund cover both chalets or only one , if the reason for cancellation only applies to one party. Say, one person has to self isolate.would the other family still want to go?1

Thanks for the replies, much to investigate!0

Many places are now realising that they have to work with this and offering refunds or postponement but it will depend on what they are covering. Good that they've put it in print. You need to see that.Is it just government restrictions, you falling ill or the whole self isolation thing? If it is a problem it may be worth seeing if there is any holiday insurance covering this. I think probably not because it's to great a likelyhood that many will have to cancel. But the essence is what do they call a good reason for cancelling. Also would you want to go if your son and his partner couldn't?
I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

Many thank you for your reply.
I have researched more into this problem and it would seem that many lets are sheltered behind a letting agency, which means I believe that in some cases the agency you booked with would or could say no to a refund, then it's a case of trying to get the refund from the actual owners.
Some I'm sure would be excellent in this regard, others might not be and with this type of holiday could be an expensive matter.
As it would seem, perhaps fairly that even the government is unsure about where we will be in a few months time, I am putting the idea of an early break on the back burner, it seems fraught with problems at the moment.
