Morning all
Bitterly cold and frosty here looks lovely out of the window but still no snow ! Sun is out though so the frost should melt later.
Thank you again for all the wishes and advice re my DB, and thanks to suffolk sue for de-lurking, we had a bit of a breakthrough yesterday, db was in so much pain and every sip of water he took came straight back up, we had a three way phone call with him my sister and I and he has agreed to us phoning the hospice for nurses to come out and to try and get a zoom meeting with the hospital, my sister and I are so relieved, the nurses at the hospice will come out and sort out his pain, I have phoned them this morning and am waiting for a call back, I know it wont make a difference re his prognosis but they can hopefully make him more comfortable.
I also got a FB message yesterday from my brothers ex partner and mother to his children, so I have said I will phone her later, she does not speak to us and has not for years so it must have been hard for her to reach out, but now is not the time for squabbles so I shall phone her, it will be a difficult conversation as she is quite hysterical about it all and not at all level headed but we need to all work together and things will only get harder as we go along so best get started now.
Dinner tonight will be left over roast pork from yesterday, it was very tasty and we took one round to mum who ate every mouthful which is great. She had her first covid jab yesterday and so far no ill effects.
Need to unload the dw and will ask OH to hoover through.
Nels my lovely friend sending you the biggest hug ever and lots of love xx
Have good days all and stay safe xx14 -
Morning all.The snow melted yesterday but we had more overnight which then froze, so it's lethal out under foot. It's bin day tomorrow but as mine as only half full I won't be trying to take it out even though I've been reminded that I have yak-trax'sI was interrupted by someone at the front door......... a meter reader, haven't seen one of those for 2 years. He only read the gas, so he'll probably be back tomorrow to read the leccie as we're dual fuelNothing much on my to do list today, so what will be done, or not done is anybody's guess, but I will make a casserole as the lamb roast yesterday was lovely and there's enough left to make a casserole for tea today. Pudding will be more coffee and walnut cakes, I did manage to freeze some too before they have all been eaten.Gers thanks for the info on the box, hope you get your onions and your DM gets her jab.Monna thanks I've missed your " thought". I do read the Fence but don't post very often.Hugs to all, especially RedR's DB.Take care all, stay safe if you have to go outnan xxFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently13

Good morning thanks to nmlc, hope your day goes well.
Bright, sunny and very cold here today, no more snow which suits me well. OH just going out with dog, will get to hear about road conditions when he comes back, but no plans to go anywhere, will try a walk later if pavements are safe for someone who can fall over for a pastime. Had a lovely walk yesterday and came back and cleaned/topped up bird feeders, for some reason we have very few around, normally we are stacked out with them, during the beast from the east I was re-filling feeders 4 times a day.
Cooking oon the cards today, co-opting OH to do some peeling and chopping to make red cabbage in SC and some carrot, tomato and lentil soup in soup maker, kedgeree for supper and Curry Club homework to do, recipe and very details given for yeasted naan breads, most of us have failed dismally so far to manage anything remotely puffed up.
Ruby so pleased to read that your DB has agreed to help re the pain. Nelski I do hope that you have a much better week this week. Monna I will be popping into “The Fence” thread for your thought for today, I love them. Gers I have never tried Haggis, may brave it if we ever get back to your beautiful country for our yearly holiday. ScarlettRibbons you made me smile about the button, I do this sort of thing so often.
Have a good day all, stay warm, dry and safe.

Hi all,
Regarding SM orders I am trying to be organised and make a meal plan on Saturday for the following week so that I know I have everything in - I wouldn't bother for the two of us because I can always make a scratch meal but for four it's more difficult. I then have to tell Steve what we need and he taps it out on his phone which I find endlessly frustrating. When it came last night we had two enormous butternut squash and two more packs of bacon to add to those in the fridge (despite telling him to delete them). We are spending an enormous amount but at least Laura and Brian are contributing.
They've gone out for a quick walk in the sunshine and snow, Esben wasn't too impressed by it yesterday but I don't think it will last long after today. I hope Chris had an ok journey to work unless he decided to work from home.11 -
Morning all! oops, afternoon...Oh had control of the computer again today hence the late post but honestly, it wouldn't have been that early anyway because I didn't get up till half ten. Went to bed very late because he's attempting to go to sleep first so he's not kept awake by my snoring. Any remedies out there? So I go to bed late to make sure he's the one snoring not me. He cleared all the snow off the pavement outside our house, up to 3 houses down and to the end of the street the other way yesterday. There are a lot fo oldies living here so he did his good deed....Me, I got cat food , the shop was pretty much empty and my car had no problems in the snow, which is good, because that's the only reason I wanted a 4x4.Today I'll be jigsawing. It is really difficult but still engaging. And we have leftover roast dinner so that's food sorted. After today, any beef left will form a massaman curry or polpetti, probably polpetti because i have parsley still in the garden. Over the weekend chats were had with the owners of the cat we stole, who have had some life events, so the upshot is, Fatty is now legitimately ours.Ruby, I really hope they can sort his pain out. It's just awful. Nelski, sorry you had such a sh*t week, hope this one is less so. Hapy Burns night Gers and camelot. Hope everyone can have a tolerable day, at least here the sun is shining and melting the white stuff, the fire is on and we are dry. Hugs for anyone not in that situation, finishing with a Hill Street Blues flourish, let's be careful out there....Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi11

Afternoon everyone
Still very cold here but nice and sunny - I've put some towels and my dressing gown out for a blow. They'll not dry completely but they'll be softer than if I just hung them on the airer to dry.
I had a walk down with some bits I had for my mam - had a nice chat with her inside and me outside and then stood in the hallway with my scarf wrapped round me and chatted - well shouted - with dad.
DD was hoping to get the catheter out today - she had it out for an hour and then was in agony so had to have it back in. She's on a list as an emergency for an appointment to see what's wrong - just hoping it's not too much longer as she's understandably very down.
Well I have lots of little shoes to wash so DD can sell them so I'm going to do that and then finish reading my Sunday Times. Little one was delighted on Saturday because I'd bought her a new pair of wellies with Peppa Pig on - she had them straight on!

I'm just posting this here for anyone with tech savvie, or the power to use a browser. I booked the Rhod Gilbert thing through a wbsite called Eventbrite and after having such a good experience with it from that quiz, I had a quick shufty through it this morning. There are paid for events, but there are also free events available and even though I found setting up Teams a hassle, it's also available just as a webpage so if anyone is that bored and fancies something of a challenge, or if they know what they're doing, have a look here and see if anything takes your fancy. And if anyone has any links to other similar things, I'd be glad to look at those too. I'm jumping in with both feet to escape the tedium of lockdown. So anyway, totally I am unaffiliated with this site
