Parking ticket challenge rejected for a reason other than the one it was issued for

I received a parking ticket in December, in Belfast city centre. The
reason given for the ticket was that I was parked in a "restricted zone"
and photos on their website showed a sign with no parking between
certain times. However, disabled drivers can park in the area at all
times. I was parked in a bay with a single yellow line, and my blue
badge prominently displayed. I challenged the ticket saying I was
legally parked at the time stated and that my blue badge was clearly on
display. The challenge has been rejected because my blue badge was out
of date and I had only applied for the renewal badge the day the ticket
was issued. That is not the reason stated on the ticket. There was no mention of my blue badge at all on the ticket. Also, according
to the blue badge unit, I am allowed a grace period between the date
the badge expired and a replacement being issued. They do not issue renewal reminders. So what can I do about
this?

Yes I did and was advised to post here for more appropriate advice. Thanks for pointing that out.

Just checked the link above. This took place in Belfast. Sorry, OP, but we can't help here.As we major on private parking tickets here, PePiPoo will be your best bet for council tickets. Register there but please note that a hotmail or yahoo address won't work - try using a throwaway gmail account instead if you do have trouble registering and post a new thread; here's your link:Have a read through some of the other threads there before you post your own to get the hang of what information they need from you in your opening post - but as a minimum you will need to post redacted photos/scans of all correspondence you've received from the council (both sides, if appropriate) as they need to see all the small print. Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.
