By the time our staff come back to work we are projected to have a full year s holiday entitlement for
each staff member, this in itself will be financially crippleling for our business. Can I pay our staff holidays whilst on
fyurlough and what are the rules surrounding this. Thanks

You can request staff to take holiday while they are on furlough. You should give them twice the notice for the amount of holiday, so two weeks' notice for one week's holiday, unless their contracts of employment provide otherwise. You should pay them their normal rate of pay, as if they were not furloughed, so you will have to top up what you recover from CJRS.
What you cannot do is furlough people who would be working for you if they weren't on holiday, or would have been away from work for some reason other than coronavirus (a recent example of what is not allowed was furloughing employees over Christmas when the business would have been closed down anyway).1 -
If staff take annual leave (their choice or yours) while on furlough, the pay needs to be topped up to full pay.0
