  • Is there no redundancy pay?

Use a benefits calculator to check entitlement for benefits.

Even if not eligible for means-tested benefits, you are likely to be eligible for nJSA, which has a non-means tested / contribution based element.
Have you registered at the Job Centre?  They are quite helpful.
Also, remember, if you claim for UC you will close any existing tax credit.

If you do choose to apply for universal credit you would be best to wait until you have received any final monies you are due so that they aren’t counted in your first assessment period and therefore will reduce the money you may otherwise be eligible for.

Good advice from the other 2 posters in that UC will end any tax credits you may be claiming and that the benefit entitlement calculators will give you an idea of what you might be entitled too.

Don't forget holiday pay you might be due!
