My bugbear is I have to stand and queue outside and then have a long hike round the aisles to buy a couple of items. No way to cut through and no thought given to people who have disabilities but are not in a wheelchair. My council has even moved the bus stop further away from the shops.  Town is now inaccessible to me except on very good days and they wonder why business is poor.

Most of our local shops have restricted numbers to two or three customers, depending on the size of the shop. with a one way system in place. But quite a few customers don't take any notice.
I do not think any shops I have been in, or indeed a shopping centre, since the start of Covid, that I have had a trip where people managed to follow the one way system, or even the keep left signs. We have little hope if people are so idiotic that they can not cope with a one way system or a simple instruction to walk on the left.
This bugs me too but some are lazy and will take the shortest possible route. They can't possibly walk a few extra feet and follow instructions. Ironically some of these people will be the same ad those who go running and/or exercise at the gym regularly.

I do feel sorry for all shop staff, but especially supermarket staff.
They have been packed in the run up to Xmas & had little chance of maintaining social distance.
I am annoyed at all the non mask wearers.  This isn’t a game, it’s not messing about.  PEOPLE ARE DYING, this really is life or death, if you can’t mask up, stay at home, it’s probably safest anyway.

Not everyone can a) shop online or b) has someone to do their shopping for them. Would you rather they starve to death?
On the subject of one way systems I find them really hard to cope with. I’m severely dyscalculic and part of this means I struggle with directions. I end up going down the wrong aisles through no fault of my own. Being mobility impaired as well it makes shopping a million times harder as I have to walk further than I need to which not only wears me out but frustrates me.

  • It's only the large shopping centre near me that's kept it's one way system, when my Husband went Christmas shopping he said it was well managed by the staff and people were picked up on going the wrong way.
When I went, it was a complete free for all, and no staff were visible.

I've not seen lots of people not wearing masks, but I have seen a lot of people wearing them wrong, also a lot of people with beards and masks which we were told at the start doesn't create a proper seal.
We did have a lot of traffic light systems to control entry to the shops or sometimes a member of staff but that seems to be very intermittent.
One local town has pedestrianised the high street and moved the bus stop, this hasn't gone down very well and a lot of the elderly and disabled feel quite discriminated against as they can't get to the shops so easily due to the distance of the car parking now.

  • My annoyance comes to the actual queue at a checkout, people don’t socially distance, they are basically up your backside, I hate it!

Me too. Have you explored all the options?
i go to the supermarket about 9pm and it’s really quiet.

    change the times?
go to different shops? Some supermarkets are better than others.
    get stuff online?
    minimise your shops?
send someone else? (My husband is more vulnerable and hates it more and I’m faster on my feet at avoiding people so I go instead of him).

The issue with beards and masks only applies to medical/ surgical masks ie the ones worn by staff in hospitals. They have tight fitting masks of superior quality and functionality. The masks, or face coverings currently worn by the general public do not create any form of seal, so a beard or other facial hair is academic.
Of greater importance is that the mask covers the nose and mouth...
