Got to Scotland last week, can I go back to London in January?

Every year I spend Christmas with family in Scotland (I currently live in London). I left London before it was declared a tier 4 area and am supposed to be flying home on 2 January. In the meantime, Scotland is going into lockdown, listing at least 3 weeks, from Boxing Day.
MSE-ers, do you think I can travel home (ie back to London) on 2 January (work from home and stupidly did not bring my laptop with me)? Would really appreciate advice and guidance.

If your only home is in London and/or you are required to be there for work, then this would be allowed.

If you are staying in a property that you either own or rent, then the legislation doesn't allow relocation to second homes.

Carry proof of your main residency in London with you, and preferably proof of the date you left London, such as a boarding card is my advice, on a common sense level.

As is now, Nobody will stop anyone from traveling to their homes and/or workplace.  The general advice is to get home as soon as you can without stopping off in different counties (if avoidable). Providing your flight is as scheduled, going by air would be the best option I would say.  Keep checking  for up to date info such as changes and restrictions.  obviously if you are feeling unwell then you don’t attempt it but that is just common sense.  

In meantime enjoy Christmas with your family.

If you go by Air no one is checking anything.
I flew from Edinburgh to Birmingham on 23rd December and back on 27th December (Today)
On an A320 there were 16 passengers on the way down and 13 on the way up - great for Social Distancing but not for Easyjets bottom line.

Empty Airports, No Security Queues, great time to fly at the moment !!
