O/S Daily Tuesday 22 December 2020
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Wet underfoot after raining during last night into this morning, and rain forecast for most of today. Feels much cooler too.
DH and DS1 getting ready for work, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying first cuppa and my porridge whilst on here. DS2 settled and happy.
Dinner last night was scampi and chips for the menfolk, I had baked fish and veg. Not sure about tonight but I will call into the SM on my way home from work.
Work yesterday was quite busy for me, so we'll see what happens today - I only have today and tomorrow at work then finish for some time off over the Xmas and New Year - I don't' go back to work until first Monday in January.
Keep safe and well x

Good morning everyone
It's not raining here at the moment but everything is very wet outside. The dogs had a quick bounce around the garden and then came in for a warm up. Phoebe has just left for work and I am sitting here with a small Westie on my foot for some reason.
I have the first delivery of our Christmas food shopping this afternoon. I am a bit worried as to what they will actually send having read some right horror stories in the news. Oh well, we will manage I am sure with whatever turns up. It is still better than braving a supermarket at this time of year. Tomorrow I am expecting deliveries from Musclefood and Morrisons and then that will be that.
The nurse came yesterday and was a lot happier with my legs as they are quite a bit better. The nurses are doing shared care with Steve now as he feels more confident to help me. I am being very good and getting my feet up every afternoon which is certainly helping.
No idea what is for tea, maybe I will just do cheese and crackers as we have a small cheese mountain built up in the fridge. I must remember to ask Steve to take the gammon out to defrost as well today as I am planning on cooking it on Christmas Eve and it is an enormous piece of meat.
Well, that's all for now, hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx

Morning All
Last day of the working year for me today, hurrah! It will be a day of taking down decorations and general tidying up. Lots of children off yesterday and probably more off today. I think if I was a parent I would be keeping my children off too.
The last of the deliveries arrived yesterday, a mushroom growing kit for my family secret santa. Brilliant service, I ordered it about 6 weeks ago but stated it was for a christmas present so they held off delivering, the delivery driver was good too, tucked it away in the little greenhouse and even closed the side gate!
I have a haircut booked for tonight but not sure if I really need to go, will decide later. We're not supposed to travel to a different tier although come boxing day we'll all be in the same level anyway.
Hope the poorlies are feeling better, still thinking of you Bella.
Take care. XX13 -
Morning all
Up early for me as I have a hosp appointment today for dressing change we need to leave here at 8, I think I am first in so should not take too long, dd is taking me and we will nip to the shops afterwards for the last bits, we went yesterday but did not get most of what we needed as the shop was so busy so hopefully going early today it will be better.
My brother has been having tummy troubles for a while now and phoned me yesterday in agony, he could not even put his feet to the ground, my mum drove him to A & E and dropped him off and they have kept him in overnight he had blood tests, x rays and a finger put somewhere it shouldnt beand a scan, a huge fluid filled lump came up on his tummy, he is waiting for the Dr to come round today but they think its a blockage somewhere and should find out more today, its likely atm that he will be in over Christmas but we should find out more today.
Filled pasta for dinner tonight with salad and avocado nice and easy.
MM hope you are ok xx
Bella thinking of you my lovely xx
Have good days all xx13 -
Morning folks and thanks NMLC. DUMPLING my DD went to Mr M's after work yesterday and she said there was no sign of empty shelves, fridges or freezers. All was normal so you may be lucky with your delivery. She also got me the lettuce that I didn't get in my Sunday delivery!
Forecast to be cooler and drier today. When I had my doorstep chat with my DB and SIL yesterday I was ashamed at the state of the front garden, with all sorts of rubbish blown in there so this morning my first job will be picking it all up! Because I am on a corner I get the rubbish blown in from all directions.
I am still awaiting one delivery - Sparkle's second present - and I am wondering if it's held up at the ports. It may have to be a New Year present but I don't suppose she will mind! On the whole I have been very impressed by the speed at which all my Xmas present orders have been delivered all things considered this year,
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for all in need. Thinking of MEANMARIE and BELLA especially and RUBY keep on keeping on, you are doing so well. Don't undo all the good work by even thinking about doing anything you shouldn't. Take care one and all and stay safe xx

Morning
Oh dear your poor brother Ruby that sounds awful. Sending him good vibes x
nanny you should know me better than that if I am naughty I don't get caught
Didn't have the best night thanks to the clunky monitor and the wires irritating my skin I can get rid of it today though so its another trip to the hospital. I was in the green area (covid free) and it was like a ghost town I was one of about 10 people in outpatients which is usually like a cattle market. I passed the A+E in the cab and the ambulances were queuing outside
Be glad to get back this afternoon and I can start on some Christmas food preps.
Have a good day all

Once in royal Davids city,
Stood a lowly cattle shed,
Where a mother laid her Baby,
In a manger for His bed:
Mary was that mother mild,
Jesus Christ, her little ChildMorningAll cards and presents have been delivered. Mum and dad insisted that we come in, I insisted that we don't! Then we nipped to my brother's house. I like to see my nephew unwrap his presents from us while he's sat by the tree on Christmas Eve so it's a shame to miss out on that. He promised to help his five-month-old sister unwrap her present carefully, lol.
Morrison's was quieter than I expected, after yesterday's news I was expecting the panic buyers from earlier in the year to descend again. I wonder if they bought so much back in the spring that they just don't have room for anything else, lol. We didn't need much so weren't in there for long but there was plenty of everything.
The turkey and ham are defrosting, the tablecloths are washed, all I need to do today is put the presents under the tree. I'll have a good amble with Scamp this morning. Lately I've had to keep an eye on time for deliveries, etc. but today I can leave my phone at home and just wander. Hopefully I'll bump into some of my favourite local people – and dogs, mostly it's about the dogs if I'm honest, lol – then have a quiet afternoon.

Good morning and thanks NMLC.I've been awake half the night and then fell asleep again, and didn't wake till after 7.Hope your dressing change goes all right RR, you seem to be doing really well, and Dumpling you're sounding pretty spry this morning, glad your legs are improving. Not a lot happening here, everything I've ordered has turned up, even non Christmas stuff that was scheduled to arrive at the beginning of January.Yesterday I went to Wi*ko, and bought a few household spares, toothpaste, washing soda, rubber gloves, and some hand wipes to use in the car, and a few other bits and pieces.Just doing odd jobs today, don't know if I'll go out or not.Thinking of Bella and MM, hope everyone else is ok.Take care folks.14

Morning folks. Thanks for the lovely hymn Tru. Despite not having a religious bone in my body I really enjoy carols, must harken back to my childhood.Ruby - what a shock for your brother. Here's hoping he's better very soon.Yesterday my brief trip to Marks was very civilised. There was a queue outside but I had booked a slot so was able to go straight in. I felt mildly embarrassed about it but also quite pleased. There were a few things missing from the shelves though it was down to all the Christmas food being out. I only have the meat order to collect tomorrow and on Thursday I'll collect the dessert from a local restaurant. Apart from that' it's done! 😀
I've booked a delivery slot for Hogmanay just in case...
No real plans for today so will just laze around, again.Happy Tuesday to all.13 -
Just revising my ‘no plans’ statement - there’s a red cabbage to slice (wearing disposable gloves) and cook and bedding to change and wash. I’ll also practice making roasted potatoes as I’ve never done that before, can’t wait until Friday to muck it up. 🎄12
