How to confirm that the solicitor has received a deposit if they don’t answer emails or calls?

Is it really that difficult to take 5 seconds to respond “yes” when your client has transferred you nearly £70k? No response to voicemail.
Is there any other way to confirm this transaction? Would the bank know?

Perhaps your solicitor is waiting for the office admin to confirm. When was the money transferred?0

Did you send a pound first to make sure its gone to the right account?1

As above, the solicitor is unlikely to have direct access to their client account so is in turn relying on somebody else telling them - and if they have to prioritise anything, it's going to be making sure completions get done, not merely reassuring people that their money hasn't for some reason gone astray. If your bank says they've transferred the money then I think you can rely on that.

Pop in and ask the receptionist/secretary to check for you.

Anybody trying to pop in to our offices during current circumstances will be told to pop off by security at the door...greatcrested said:Pop in and ask the receptionist/secretary to check for you.

Got it. Don’t bother them. This must be the only profession where it’s acceptable to ignore your clients but charge the earth.5

Solicitors are more than happy to charge you for their time. Suspect you would be the unhappy one if they did.Othmas said:Got it. Don’t bother them. This must be the only profession where it’s acceptable to ignore your clients but charge the earth.
