How is British Airways legal?

Agree with what’s been said and you have stated they have extended till April 2022 for which you cannot see happening due to your own opinion of what travel will look like. That voucher sum will certainly cover a few eu holidays with BA over the course of next 2 years.0

You can also book UK holidays, car hire and hotels with BA fwiw!0

Anyone want to put a fiver on the OP never returning after the initial rant...?1

I think he came back and changed the post header. I am sure he called BA thieves in that.
Similar to another ranting poster the previous week posting about Easyjet.0 -

Summary:
BA cancelled our family of 4 flights to Las Vegas due out on 20-May 2020.
I accepted vouchers in April on the basis that we could fly the same trip in May or June 2021.
Due to Covid, that now looks VERY unlikely.
They extended the vouchers to flights made by April 2022 - but we would not be able to travel until May or June (IF the pandemic is under control = a big IF).
We have no plans or desire to travel anywhere else at any time. To make it worse, the ONLY reason I booked with BA in the first place was because I wanted to fly on a 747... and we all now how that turned out
They are now refusing to refund.
So I have paid B.A. £3,225 and got NOTHING for it.
HOW IS THAT FAIR OR LEGAL?
Mark.
You paid £3225, you asked BA for a voucher, and you now have a voucher for £3225. You are not out of pocket in any way and BA have done exactly as you asked them to.
£3225 will probably be more than enough to purchase a 747 at the moment, so as long as you can afford crew, fuel, maintenance and landing fees (plus £80m for the purchase of slots at LHR), this may be the only leg you have to stand on to get the flight you want.
On a serious note, the 747-400s at BA are old (none have been delivered in this millennium), not fuel/engineering efficient (4 engines vs 2 etc), bigger than a 787/A350 and in an awkward configuration for the current climate, so it's not surprising that BA have chosen to retire these sooner rather than later given the current situation.💙💛 💔0 -
Self inflicted woes.

Would you like money for either:
- Super restricted use and for which you are probably paying interest on your credit card for on a trip you haven't taken yet (vouchers)?
or
- Money to use freely when you want and how you want (refund)?
You chose the former. You have to live with the stupid decision, unfortunately. The future flights aren't cheaper because you got a voucher. Why anyone chooses a voucher with an uncertain time when to use them over a refund is baffling.
P.S. old 747's aren't anything to be impressed about. 787 or A350's are, however.1 -

Yes my post was purely aimed at the OP. When I say 'anyone' I meant the OP given his circumstances and complaining that he's effectively changed his mind from the two choices given. Your reasoning makes perfect sense.0
