You say you have paid a deposit and have a balance to pay, is this a British Airways Holidays booking? Usually BA flights you pay when you book.

If it is a BA Holidays booking, reports from at least one poster on this forum are that they have been very good in allowing customers to cancel for a refund.
Yes, I managed to find out today its a holidays booking as its flight and hire car all in one.  The woman that cut me off was from flights only.  From whats been said on this post I am more hopeful that it might get sorted

Our BA flights, booked as part of a BA holiday for 14/10 were cancelled on 18/09, we were offered a full refund. They're still selling flights to Mexico from 17/10, I assume this flight is going ahead as that would be short notice to cancel now.
  • BA are still flying. I imagine they need the passengers and so won’t cancel and refund. America is still open and so from their point of view you could still go.

Up until today they were still selling flights for 17/10 to Mexico, now nothing's available until november 2nd onwards.
  • You pay the full balance. Then when they cancel (which they will), it will get sorted. We were due to fly with BA to Florida in August. If you don’t pay the balance then you will lose the deposit.

Yes, this is absolutely right, I was able to ring them on Monday 12th and today Friday 16th the money has landed back in my account.  Hopefully this post will help others as the guidance on the BA website isn't the easiest to follow
