Would you pay an insurance company not to insure you?

I ended up having two houses because problems with my buyer so I insured both properties. One is now unoccupied so I spoke to the insurance company to try and convert my policy to unoccupied insurance. "We don't do that, you'll have to cancel it but you need the other policy holder's permission". "Forget it I just want some unoccupied property insurance I'll sort that out later". I got some thru a comparison site and yes it was with the same company who "doesn't do it". Maybe I should cancel the old policy as it has 3 months to run maybe I'll get something back. No there is a £30 cancellation cost so please give us £4.12 not to insure you for the next 3 months. What should I do ? Just do nothing and let the policy expire? I better change that address so when they try to auto renew I'll get the notice so I can cancel it. When I put in my new address they wanted all the details to quote me for a new address. As I don't really need this insurance I removed the buildings insurance and just left the contents. Would you believe it the quote was £11.20 less for the rest of the policy and they say they will refund that amount to me.
