hi all
my partner runs her beauty business from home. Just in a spare room.
when it comes to home insurance it means most insurance won’t touch it or put premium sky high.
just looking to see if other people have same issue and if so with who do you get a good policy with.
thanks luke

She needs a homeworker policy. It will be more expensive. That is inevitable. However, it is better than suffering a claimable event only to be told the policy is void due to non-disclosure.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0

If she does not have one a public liability insurance policy is also a must!0

We have insurance with Aviva. They simply stated that they don't cover anything related to the business. I guess our premium is a bit higher than it otherwise would be but not astronomically so. My partner also has separate public liability insurance and also additional insurance for her business equipment. It seems to work fine.0

Do you have visitors to the property by way of business? Visitors and stock are the things that put residential home insurance off.

I think you need to be more worried about your wife causing damage to the client than them damaging your home. Ensure that she has the appropriate liability insurance - both in respect of them having a trip or fall in the house and in respect of a beauty treatment causing them an issue.0

Thanks for responses
to confirm my partner has full liability insurance etc for treatments customers while in our home. All specialist beauty insurance.
My query is with the home insurance side of thing.
like petriix we currently have cover with direct line where house is covered for everything like a normal policy but if a client steal or breaks something while invited into property we are not covered.
keeps the premium down.
will check out aviva to see what the will quote
thanks all0
