  • I seem to be in a similar position to you (im 29, saving for a house and a beginner to investing)
My first stop was a Vanguard Lifestrat 80 fund but the more I research and grow in confidence the more I think I want to create and manage my own portfolio.

Ultimately my investment strategy is to save for retirement (I want to retire at 65 at the latest which gives me 35 years) but I also want to generate some dividend income.
So I've opened up a GIA on free trade and experimenting with buying a mix of single stocks and funds.

I intend to open up an S&S ISA with freetrade instead as the fees are cheap and they offer more selection of stocks.

However if your goal is simply to regularly invest in a life strat fund for retirement it sounds like a sound plan to me as it was initially my plan also. :) :P

I want a hands off approach to start with so I've decided to go with VLS80 accumulation fund for the time being then in the future look at adding more things to my portfolio once I'm more clued up.
