Sainsbury's Credit Card - Qualifying spend for 750 Nectar points per £35

Options
It says on the Sainsbury's website that you collect 750 bonus points each time you spend £35 or more on Sainsbury’s shopping with your credit card, up to ten times in your first 2 months.  I probably won't spend that much (£350) in Sainsbury's over 2 months.   Anyone know if buying a £35 Amazon Gift Card for example would count as qualifying spend?
Thanks!

I would imagine that as long as you buy it from Sainsbury's it should count.
Time is a path from the past to the future and back again. The present is the crossroads of both.

We've spent it on both our cards (mine & wife's) - not a single one yet. Asked nectar - they're clueless. Sainsburys; they're closed.

So I'm owed 15000 and nothing. Since November.

    See here -

You imagine right, but sadly it's not.

It worked for me. I bought ten £35 Sainsbury's gift cards over a few visits. This was pre-lockdown though, the previous time they ran this promotion. Things may have slowed up now.

I've just signed up for a Sainsburys card - it should be arriving in a couple of days - having just checked the web - it says that you will get the points within 60 days of the end of your first 2 months - but doesn't seem to exclude gift cards. There are exclusions, but that's not one:

*Offer is available to new Sainsbury's Bank Credit Card customers. 750 bonus points awarded when you use card to spend £35+ at Sainsbury's, up to 10 times in the 2 months after account opens. Points added to Nectar account within 60 days of end of offer period. You need to add your Nectar card number to your application. Spend at Argos, Habitat, Sainsbury's petrol stations (incl non-fuel purchases), Sainsbury's Bank (incl travel money), Sainsbury's Energy & other Sainsbury's services excluded. No points awarded if you go over credit limit or don't pay at least the minimum payment on each statement by its due date. Sainsbury's Supermarkets Ltd award points from this offer. No cash alternative available. Sainsbury's Bank reserve the right to change or cancel this offer without notice.

I'd be surprised that would work as I think that would be illegal

"Spirits and liqueurs are no longer included in promotions and coupons in the same way that baby formula, fuel, stamps, tobacco and other excluded items* are not. This means that you'll no longer earn Nectar points when purchasing spirits and liqueurs and, subsequently, any spend on these items will not contribute to the required spend to participate in marketing promotions and coupons."

It isn’t illegal, it’s just Sainsbury’s policy. You can for example get Tesco points on spirits. However as the quote says the exclusion applies to spirits and liqueurs, you will get nectar points on wine and beer and they do count towards the spend.

I'm not sure Sainsbury's Bank's systems are sophisticated enough to see more than spend through a Sainsbury's till.
There's no requirement to use your Nectar card when making those purchases, and that'd be what would potentially allow them to check.

In previous years I've done as others did, couple of £35 gift card purchases per trip over a few days.

    Yes. I've got a Sainsbury's cc.

You should also get points, though not as many obviously, when you use your Sainos card to shop elsewhere.
