Voyager Alliance - New Account

So at work we have a partnership with Voyager Alliance Credit Union, A rep has been in to try and sign people up and I was just doing some research on them before joining up.
So I have £2000 for a savings account, the idea was to make use of the fact that they take an amount from your wage and put it straight into your savings account before you even get your wage which does suit me as I am useless at saving. the other use was that they offer a loan facility to members and you can apply for this from the moment your first deduction is taken from the wage. Does anybody know how these loans work? are they like traditional loans where they go off credit score etc as mine is beyond terrible.
The loan will be used to clear up every penny I have ever owed this point, I would need to borrow around £9k. In my youth I was rubbish with money, I owed money left, right and centre, I am now a lot better. I had 2 big loans with Amigo and Everyday loans which have both just been successfully completed. the only other big amount I have to owe is £3k left on a car that I want to clear. there is also loads of smaller amounts from many years ago that are with various debt collection agencies. If I could get the £9k I could pay every off and have 1 payment which would be the loan, I would simultaneously be saving which is good.
Any advice?
