can a plumber cancel boiler cover 7 months into a rolling year, due to a breakdown in personal relations he states its inappropriate to give me service now . I stae that some of the monthly fee goes towards an anual service  and a certain percentage of this should be refunded, he states its a pay as you go insurance similar to car insurance and is non refundablebut car insurance is refundable On his contract you do have the option to pay upfront. He was a member of which trusted traders whom i contacted and they agreed with me, but he has now cancelled his association with them.

If you paid by DD then consider asking the bank to reverse some of the monthly payments.  If you paid by credit card then Section 75 may apply.  If you paid by debit card then consider a chargeback.  Otherwise it's the small claims court.

So its a heating engineer that due to a breakdown in personal relations between you both, now feels it is inappropriate to cover you and give you a service for which you pay monthly? Assume this breakdown cover?

I feel that as long as the payments are up to date and the boiler has been kept working, then you should find another engineer to maintain your boiler. Servicing is usually done at the first visit, did this happen?

Also car insurance company's may take a different view to yours about  refunding customers paying by DD? If there is a breakdown in relationships?    Someone will advise?

I would say if you opted to pay up front, you would get a refund if he cancelled.

If you are ahead in payments and paid by DD speak to provider regards means of getting any payments back.

I would get an other engineer or save the monthly fee, and use it if there is eventually any problem with boiler.

Edit: Is this is only boiler cover not  boiler / central heating? How much were you paying monthly?

we actually paid by standing order, and the plumber covers it himself , no outside insrance company he apparantly has a good reputation with boiler supplier, boiler was installed brand new in Nov 2017, and every month since i have paid £12. On contract i signed it says anual service 12 years parts and labour whole heating system (which i think was a mistake as he only fitted boiler), so not breakdown cover on its own a heating care contract, but it would be covered also.
It says in terms on reverse that if circumstances arise which make it inappropriate for the contract to continue.
you can pay in a lump some for the heating care contract which i presume would be £144 or in installments.
I see what you mean re car insurance also, but car insurance does not include a car service ot mot at the end of the year this specifically states anual service on the contract.
Citizens advice say he has breached the contract under common law, and i should seek damages , but he has not replied to last email, he did offer me £12 as full and final settlement as a goodwill gesture, which i declined. The said to get a quote for service which i did and was £80, so i divided that by 12 and multipled by 7 , whhich is the months i have paid this year, and i reckon £46.66 . If im barking up wrong tree please say, its not the money its principle, and the money !!!

Hm, that depends upon the company policies. In the UK there are one of the best companies providing the best boiler cover or boiler breakdown cover service some of them are 247 home rescue, home serve, british gas and many more.
    Welcome to the forum.
I don't think that many forumites would agree with you that 24/7 Home Rescue are one of the best companies !
