How to drop a pin on Google Maps from desktop

Hi 
I am trying to make a map with the same lay out  to this https://www.dropbox.com/s/13dg2wfmgsiu4ro/Rough%20Sleepers%20Map.pdf?dl=0 but everytime i try google.co.uk/mymaps i get every other business shown also.
I just want the places i put on the map to be shown and then i can share it to other services and service users / public 
Please can someone explain in simple steps what i do?

Menu option to the left of the search bar. Location sharing, your data etc.

Its the how to just show the places i pin and name like in the above link i need to know how to do as i cant figure that bit out.

Cant see the link its a PDF file, upload as an image so people can see without downloading a pdf.

I am making a new map the link is just an example of what i wish to produce 
The same layout as this with just services i put on it showing and nothing else
https://www.google.co.uk/maps/d/ is what came up in a search on how to do a drop pin but is shows all the other businesses in the area and i don't want that.
