Starting own accountancy firm?

Hi, I was hoping for some advice, preferably for anyone that has done this.
I am ACA qualified and worked at Big 4 until I moved into a more specialised field elsewhere in Valuation. In about 5 or so years I would like the option to start my own firm. The market seems incredibly saturated but this is when I'd probably start to have children and want more flexibility.
Can anyone offer any advice? I suppose book keeping and tax returns would be the majority of my custom but would like to get more specialised work in the future, hoping to utilise the skills I currently have.
Thanks

My wife had her own practice for a few years, she positioned herself to offer business services and FD services along with the normal accountancy services, as a lot of small companies need the occasional support for specific tasks.
Ultimately my wife decided to sell up as the only way to greatly increase her customer base would have been to buy out other practices. Don't believe that you will set up and be fully employed quickly as the market is pretty full.1 -
It is saturated but like anything if you make a name for yourself you build a business.
I am a mortgage broker and when I started out I was in the same position - no customers in a saturated market. You make your own space by giving good service at a fair price.
It takes time, but you can get there.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it.
