Second job

Hi me and my partner are busy saving for our first home. I’m employed hairdresser still on furlough and can’t make any extra money to put away that I would like to. I have started up a facebook page with body shop and understand that I have to claim self employment for selling products. Is it worth my while with a second job so I can put as much extra money away as possible. Thank you.

You can be furloughed and work self employed if that is what you are wanting to know.  Some employment contracts have that you can't have a 2nd job without your employers permission, so you would need to check that. Although most are only interested if you are going to be competing against them basically.

It's not always that straightforward.  A girl I worked with wanted to do bar work in a bar which had a late licence at weekends.  Our employer would only let her take the job if she agreed not to work beyond 10pm on Sunday.  The argument being that working too late could impact on her ability to do her normal job on the Monday.
