any thomsonfly employees out there?

just sat whiling away the time. Had yet another canelled flight and am a bit bewildered.

Checked in at 3pm, everything was fine. flight ontime etc. Then 10 minutes later we are told flight to coventry and doncaster cancelled due to bad weather in the uk.

Rang home, told by other half that the weather is glorious in Coventry?

Since been told that they have been cancelled due to bad weather in Jersey?

Just sat in the viewing lounge watching a 737 take off and lot of different aircrafts of different sizes. My flight was a 737?

How do I find out the real reason for this cancellation? I suspect that they have pilots off sick or something.

Very frustrated!

LOL. It was at 3.30pm apparently! I've ended up having to fly to Manchester. Lovely smooth flight in a small plane holding about 100 people. Gatwick, Manchester, Heathrow, Exeter and Guernsey were all fine to fly to as was Birmingham! The wind has been bad all day in Jersey and the only two flights that have been cancelled were Thomson flights to Doncaster and Coventry. Strange that!

Every other airline was fine. The Birmingham flight left about 1 hour after mine was due to take off.

Won't be using Thomson again. Really poor service. We had to wait an hour for our bags because some imbecile had blocked road with his car and the truck with our bags couldnt get through.

I just checked Jersey airport website and there were a whole heap of flights that did land and take off all day (many of them smaller prop planes which you would expect to be more affected by weather than a 737)

I was due on the Cov flight myself, information from Thomson was awful, no info on passenger rights, no offer of assistance for food etc, I booked onto the next day flight and was told to call Thomson to find out the flight times, left the airport and went to accommodation where I rang Thomson who told me I needed to go to back to the airport because they didn't have the flight times - it was a total mess. The Thomson phone operator told me I needed to get details from the handling agent at the airport as Thomson didnlt have the next day flight details, so when I asked who the handling agent at Jersey was the reply was Thomson!

I was told by check in staff the delays were caused by weather, but all the other flights seemed unaffected which just sounds like Thomson trying to avoid paying compensation. I sense a letter coming on ;-)

Well, strangely enough, I had a flight cancelled in July due to technical problems with the plane. This was also from Jersey but with Flybe. I think the problem is, you are at the mercy of the Servis staff because there are no airline people there.

My flight with Flybe was due to take off at 5pm and I was still trying to sort it all out at 10pm whilst controlling two kids under 7. I then stayed at the Pomme d'or and claimed back £150.00 from the airline. Make sure you do this as if they don't pay, you can take it further. It took me 8 weeks to get the money back, but at least I did get it.

I started a new job a week ago and had to be back today to cover for someone. I've ended up paying £110 for my Flybe flight and Thomson are not obliged to reimburse me for this, only refund my flight with them. Still going to write a letter though.

Im also going to right to the top dog at Jersey Airport. What is needed, is a large screen, detailing the exact procedure which everyone can read in five minutes and sort themselves out. What annoyed me the most was the fact that the bags took 50 minutes to return to us. I could have left on the Birmingham flybe flight which was at 5 ish, but I didnt want to book it as I had no quitcase.

    Total shambles.

Seems to be a pattern emerging here!

My sister in law had her flight cancelled with Thomsonfly on 18th November from Jersey to Doncaster. They were told it was due to technical problem. However the Coventry flight was also cancelled at the same time. Pure coicidence, I think not!!

No offer of assistance was provided by Thomsofly either at Jersey or on the telephone.

Have you ever considered the real disruption to a company due to weather, the pilots and cabin crew are small fries, but lets imagine for a moment they are humans too, subject to unforseen circumstance with real lives outside of their workplace. with families and children and god forbid plans for there their time off.

a reputable company like thompson do not make ths s4it up, they employ a safety work ethic which will prioritise any bad press to amount from small minded customers, frustrating though such circumstances may be to EVERYONE involved.

No, i don't work for them, but I do work in the industry, I was off this weekend, but i did listen to the news, which forecast severe weather warnings preventing me from making unnecasary car journeys. I felt safe in my home but wasn't on the thelwall viaduct in my car or approaching the runway at manchester airport in the unusually high winds, fog and terrential rain

Pilots going sick?? rest assured if such poor man management was obvious, the pilots themselves will out it, they run the show, they decide what you are told about a delay and would not hold back in outing a disgrace like that that.

In my 15yrs experience in the job, i know this much, a rolling delay which weather can cause is as unpleasant for everyone involved but difficult to predict and forward info promptly, it s costly and uncontrolable

    Open your mind.

I think you have missed the gist of what I was saying.

If the weather is so severe it stops aircraft taking off, surely the airport grinds to a halt. On Sunday, every flight apart from two to the UK which were both Thomson, did not. Both of these were 737 type aircraft. There was a flight to Birmingham that left 20 minutes after my flight was due to take off and I didnt hear of any plane crash?

So, what my post was asking, does anyone work for Thomson? I am trying to find out who makes the decision, when and why? The truth is what I am after. I think the weather was just a standard excuse. It's probably a non paid bill at Jersey airport.

Jersey staff said that Thomson cancel flights regularly from their airport and there is never a anything of an explanation to the people using their flights.

Won't be using them again, put it that way!

I do not work for Thomsonfly so the real reason may be very different but I did fly on Sunday 2nd and the winds were causing huge problems, I was delayed just under 2 hours but the average delay at Heathrow was up to three hours by 9pm. Thomson work their planes hard, 6 flights a day probably and if there was a 2 hour delay earlier in the day followed by another delay, airlines have no choice but to cancel some flights to try and get things back to normal. Even on Monday BA were still experiencing delays and cancellations due to the winds on Sunday
