A lot of these leaks seem to be to gauge public opinion by the reaction and then take decisions.  Many policy changes seem to be driven by party political considerations it seems.

"Of course O'Leary knows the significance of June 29th.
That's why he's been saying for weeks quarantine will be over by then."
What happens when/if the FO doesn't alter its No Travel advice post June ?

It wouldn't make a lot of sense for the Government to announce these air bridges, but the FCO to maintain its "do not travel" advice.

When did 'sense' and 'Government announcements' start to go together?

Off topic and understand about economy but even if true on this date, still won't be able to hug my nephews from another household (as like many from another household)!

Spain announces that Brits can enter from UK as of today without quarantine.
However FO advice has not changed about No Travel unless essential - unless the website has been tweaked in the last 20 minutes.
Therefore travel insurance is invalid - and until self isolation rules on returning passengers is changed, you'll have 2 weeks in the open prison at home.

I think that's the whole point of the leaks from government sources. They're basically saying wait until the 29th when there'll be a co-ordinated announcement of a small group of European counties with whom agreement has been reached to form an air bridge.
It doesn't take much to read between the lines.

I don't doubt that's the intention but, before there is an official announcement anything could happen to change the situation and cause proposed changes to be cancelled or delayed.  By leaving the flow of information to be in the form of leaks, Government can disown anything which doesn't fit their requirement.
