I did say that my last post on this subject would indeed be the last, but it seems rather than try to help the original poster, there seems to be motivation for some in using the thread as a means of rubbishing a particular product which I now see has been well discussed on other threads.
Interesting that the links included by Robisere are not quite as relevant as OP would have us believe.
OP seems to think that version 1908 is the latest version of Rapport which is no longer being supported. In actual fact the latest build is Emerald Build 1955.62 so that is a bit of misinformation to start with.
Similarly, the reddit link is over a year old.
And again the reference to Microsoft is April 2018.
All I can say is that as I have acknowledged in my previous posts, I have experienced the anomalies of the product which did seem to lag behind updates to firefox and chrome browsers, but which did eventually catch up. For the last year or so, I have not had any issues with it whatsoever and it is certainly not resource hungry on my own desktop (task manager currently showing 0.1% CPU).
But it really is of little concern to me that there are those who trash a product which is recommended by reputable banks and which is supported by a reputable global company.

Which reputable banks would that be?

Some banks which previously promoted the software have discontinued it. For instance, NatWest and RBS withdrew use in January 2019, stating that "The security and fraud prevention technologies we now use provide you a higher and far broader level of protection

I love Rapport, they don’t have version for linux , to be honest I would rather my judgement than that of banks who often can’t run their online banking 24/7

I understand the wish to be secure, to be able to answer positively should you be subjected to fraud and use a 'recommended' solution. I too because of experience am rather pedantic or obsessive about security.

There are problems though with your apparent approach.
You are far mote likely to be subjected to fraud through ones own stupid activity, responding to dubious emails, browsing dangerous sites, not checking the bank url is 'secure' (via the encryption in https ) and known to you, not using two factor authentication, not using unique strong passwords, not updating your software etc.
TR attemps to catch false sites and phishing. It cannot be perfect.
It's imperfections affect functionality and therefore it's use. The banks are very reluctant to give out stats for fraud, how much, what are the causes, are there cases where TR has been in use........

You rather presume a multinational for profit company is better trusted than an independant consumer oriented review (or for profit banks for that matter that sometimes have dubious working practice -remember 2008/9 ? - or are sometimes at best economical with the truth!)
Perhaps you should consider these global organisation often have security holes in their software or working practice. IBM is an exception?

If it trully is fraud, rather than a customer's idiotic or ignorant action, then the bank has a duty to protect you.

EDIT: Can I add that that although the discussion is now not specific to the original question it is still very relevant to the general subject raised i.e. computer security for which  Avast was being used but other important aspects apparently ignored!

Thank you all for your guidance. I saw that Santander recommended TR but I hesitated as I was still covered. I just found out that my new internet provider offers free cover with BullGuard for a year, has anyone heard of them?
