Bathroom Leak damage

Can anyone advise. Yesterday woke up to bathroom, landing and husbands bedroom (he is severely disabled Struggles to walk, has advanced Alzheimer’s and we are self isolating due to his vulnerability) and kitchen below flooded! The plastic connection on the hot water tap had come undone and was gushing water everywhere, this has easily been fixed. My Esure house insurance offers an Emergency plumber, I notified them at 9am and was told someone would be in touch in 2 hours. The plumber turned up at 5pm, fortunately a friend had managed to fix it for me so at least had water back on. The damage is to the Carpeted bedroom floors are soaking and although the bathroom is tiled think it’s gone through there. My newly fitted kitchen seems ok it’s just the ceiling and water dripping through the spot lights, and where the water has penetrated the plaster board.
My question is before I discuss claiming with the insurance, I’m currently in a very awkward situation. Husband doesn’t cope with change and strangers in the house, and would find it difficult to keep him isolated. He would have to go into another bedroom, and use my en-suite shower for washing, which isn’t big and he really doesn’t like it and panics. Plus I would loose the spare bedroom where his Carer sleeps when she is helping me look after him during the night. Add to the fact we are self isolating, and I’m very tempted to leave it and hope it just all dries out, though am concerned as to safety as to whether the water ingression is going to affect the floors in Our 12 year old house - bedroom, landing, bathroom and ceiling in the kitchen which is still dripping, and obviously the spot lights. Does anyone know if I can claim much later on as long as I register everything now, Ideally when Covid19 is hopefully over as I’m really struggling to cope, my husband will have to go into Care when it is safe in the Care Homes, which would make it so much easier to have the repairs done when he’s no longer in the house?
Any advice would be really appreciated, thanks in advance.

If you plan to claim, they would usually send someone round to survey the damage, whether you want to proceed with repairs is up to you. however leaving it for an extended period may cause further damage which the insurer may decide not to cover due to your choice of delayed repairs
Drying the plaster and potentially replastering could take a while, then you need to repaint as well, that's not including the repairs to the flooring
Water in spot lights is an electrical hazard and ill advised to leave either.
The choice is entirely up to you"It is prudent when shopping for something important, not to limit yourself to Pound land/Estate Agents"
