hello. I am a teacher who has been working from home since lockdown began. I have been doing a 8:30-4:00 working day usually on my laptop. However my payslip has said ‘sick pay’ for April and May. As we know I have not been sick, but working from home. Is this legal? Thanks.

You're jumping to conclusions at the moment! Presumably you're not being paid sick pay, or you'd have said so. It's entirely possible that your organisation is recording the pandemic home working slightly differently on the system so they have a record of it. But on the payslip, they don't have an option for 'working at home' and so are showing it using specific wording because that's how it generates the right pay on their system. It's entirely possible it's just a wording thing so it gets recorded a certain way.
It doesn't mean you're being paid sick pay, and it doesn't mean you're recorded as off sick.
The only way to find out why is to call HR and ask the question. Don't ask by assuming they're doing something wrong. Simply point out that you noticed your payslip says "sick pay" and you're not off sick, so you wanted to flag it, and ask if there's been an error. If not, ask why it says sick pay, and you'll probably find it's just a way of recording something and nothing more.
Or, it may be an error.
Nothing to say that they are behaving illegally, though.' <-- See that? It's called an apostrophe. It does not mean "hey, look out, here comes an S".2 -

Smells waaaaaaay more like !!!!!! up than conspiracy. Logging things on an HR system is a crap shoot at the moment with most companies ill prepared for furlough or home work. As mentioned, just ask HR to clarify.Union official.

Anything I post is solely MY OPINION. It never constitutes legal, financial or collective bargaining advice. I may tell you based on information given how I might approach an employment dispute case, but you should always seek advice from your own Union representative. If you don't have one, get one!0
