Subscription taken after i cancelled

Hi all!
I signed up back in April 2019 to a non exec director job board - with a company called In Touch Networks - they are based in Manchester. I paid an annual fee on 27th April 2019 for access to their services, training and jobs boards etc.
Back in February 2020, I was just looking on their site bored and noticed terms and conditions - had a quick look and noticed that they would auto renew for 12 months if i didnt cancel with 30 days notice. So me thinking aha - i quickly sent an email on 12th Feb to cancel the membership to avoid getting charged. I never got a reply but didnt think about it
Along comes 17th April, 10 days before the end of my membership and a £600 charge on my credit card appears. I quickly email them and then follow it up with a call saying ive cancelled so you shouldnt have charged. They say someone will get back to me and is on it (20th April FYI). Following a few emails the person i was dealing with says they will pass to the "resolutions" team who will be in touch and refunds are 7 to 28 days. Im not hugely happy with that but accept it.
3 weeks later and no contact. I send numerous chaser emails and eventually get a call last week (14th May). This is the infamous resolutions team calling. They say they will look into - and i state i just want my refund as i cancelled - i forward a copy of the email over.
Today i get a call saying we cant find your email on our system, so no proof it was ever sent, so we cant refund but can give you 2 years membership for the price of one!
I state the email was sent, and manage to take a print screen of my laptop showing the email was sent and forward this over to which they say they will now "look into with the new information provided". I also questioned if they sent a reminder prior to renewal at all but had no reply to that at all.

What are my options here - ive spent over 4 weeks now chasing with not much luck - yes they may sort it but ive just searched for the company on trustpilot and they have 5000 reviews, and all the negative ones are people chasing incessantly for refunds with no luck.

Should i get my credit card provider involved, would this be a section 75  or a simple chargeback? Ill be sticking with direct debits in future as this "continuous payment authority" that this clearly was (just read up about it on MSE) is horrendous!

Thanks in advance for any advice!
Dan

Speak to your card provider and ask them to reverse the transaction as unauthorised.
Keep all the proof that you actually did cancel.

It is good that you have a paper-trail, clearly showing that you cancelled the CPA, in writing.

Request a chargeback and then request the CPA is cancelled
