2 insurances for 2 different vehicles - claims

Hi, I just wanting to double check something while I get some quotes for my van insurance.
I have a car and a van with 2 different insurance policies with 2 different companies.
I had a claim on the car for the theft of the catalytic converter on last years policy. The cars policy was renewed in January with no increase in premiums as I'm allowed 3
claims
Its coming round to renewing my van insurance. Do I declare the claim I made for the car when renewing my van insurance even though its with a separate insurer and a separate vehicle?
Ive received a few quotes through price comparison sites both declaring and not declaring the car claim for my van insurance renewal. If I add the claim in it shoots the price up. Why is this when my car insurance has stayed the same?

The simple answer is yes you do declare the theft claim to the van insurer. The fact it was a different vehicle and insurance policy is irrelevant, the question is whether you as an individual have made any claims on any motor policy in the time period in question.
As for the second point, I don't know. The policy price is up to the van's insurer and perhaps this one is particularly wary of theft claims.
