Annual Travel insurance just ran out and policy changed-what do I do now?

Hi all,
I have a two week holiday booked for Mexico, in October 2020, (booked this 1/01/2020)
It’s with Tui who I understand aren’t issuing refund for any holidays past July right now, but my main issue is, I’ve had a policy with Virgin travel insurance for a few years and for some reason this year it decided to email me saying the “payment” didn’t go through (even though my card details hasn’t changed...and now their policy has changed and doesn’t cover for Coronavirus related claims (understandable but still...sneaky! ESP when my partner has his own policy bought in January and it doesn’t state anywhere that it ‘won’t’ cover for covid19 related)
I’m just looking for suggestions on what I should do? Should I wait to see if travel bans and countries are safe by say September and then get travel insurance? Or should I just look for a single trip policy for that holiday? Or any other suggestions are welcome!

Ps:I know this isn’t exactly a massive issue right now and there are more important things to care about, but I’d appreciate any advice!

Surely you noticed that they had not taken payment when you checked your card statement ? did your original/previous policies cover you for a world pandemic?0

No insurance taken out after mid March will cover Covid 19. Your holiday in Oct needs to be insured, only you know if you will want a single trip or annual cover. If the trip is cancelled because of Covid it will be covered by the travel company but you need ins in case something else happens and you cannot travel or get sick on the trip.
