Fallen between the furlough cracks?

Hi all.
I was on a fixed term contract (18 months) which ended on 31st March. I have been back in touch with my company's HR department to see if they could extend my contract & put me on furlough, or rehire me and do the same.

From the new government guidance issued on Friday it sounds like extension and being furloughed is not an option:
Employees on fixed term contracts can be furloughed. Their contracts can be renewed or extended before their natural conclusion during the furlough period without breaking the terms of the scheme. There is no minimum period which must be left to run on a fixed term contract to enable it to be renewed or extended, but it must not have ended

I am hoping they will be able to rehire me, as I was on payroll on both the 28th Feb and 19th Mar, but it now sounds from the updated guidance that this will also not be possible, given that I finished on 31st March:

Employees that were employed as of 28 February 2020 and on payroll (i.e. notified to HMRC on an RTI submission on or before 28 February) and were made redundant or stopped working for the employer after that and prior to 19 March 2020, can also qualify for the scheme if the employer re-employs them and puts them on furlough.

Please can someone advise whether I have interpreted the above correctly ie. because I stopped working after 19th March I am not eligible?
Thanks

Unfortunately I agree the scheme rules don't appear to allow for you to be re-hired and placed on furlough, with the key point being that the "fixed term contract... must not have ended".
