No lodgers, can I get support?

Normaly I have lodgers, that’s where my income comes from. 

No one is here now because of the corovirus pandemic and social distancing recommendations. 

I’ve no money coming in now. 

Can I claim support?

If so, how?

There is nothing specific for people who take in lodgers. Look at universal credit (but if you claim tax credits, you will end your claim for them if you start a claim for universal credit).

People are still living together, you should still be able to get a lodger in I reckon.

Also if you have savings/capital of more than £16,000 this will exclude you from claiming UC.

You can't take lodgers in at this moment. Obviously the police can't police it but why would you take strangers in now. Your encouraged to be living with the same people at the time lockdown was enforced, not take a person/people in during lockdown and to be honest I can't think anyone would choose to move in either at this particular time.

I expect there’s probably some people who after being locked in with their partner/husband/wife for the past 4 weeks 24/7 are now looking for accommodation.
