    Also their argument is bogus.
Since when is it a condition on travel insurance  that you watch or read the news, it's totally irrelevant.
The information that you would need to know is the FCO advice, that's why it's referenced in the policy.

This was your mistake, you should always purchase travel insurance on the day you book the first part of your trip. You didn't, you waited 2 weeks.

No mistake in regard to the claim.
Buying travel insurance at the day of booking is always advised as it covers the person until they do buy the insurance.
As nothing legally happened between  between 19th Feb and 4th Mar the OP is fine.

If FCO had advised against travel  between 19th Feb and 4th Mar then there would have been a mistake.

    Birseh, Top post
The  more I read puffin's reply the more it doesn't make an ounce of sense
They talk about  "risk" but means  it might or might not happen. It's not up to the OP to  judge that.
And "risk" is why people take out insurance.

Ok I had a reply. Rejected . Any advice what to do next? hank you for your recent email regarding your claim

    Upon reviewing the FCO advice which was updated on the 3rd March on the FCO website, they stated the following;

There is an ongoing outbreak of coronavirus (COVID-19) in China, but cases have been confirmed in other countries, including in India. India has announced additional measures to limit the spread of coronavirus. You should comply with any additional screening measures put in place by the authorities.

The Indian Government is monitoring the progress of coronavirus cases around the world and updating their travel restrictions regularly in response. Anyone in India seeking more information should call on +91-11-23978046 (Government of India, 24 hour helpline).

Further advice on coronavirus is available from Public Health England and on the TravelHealthPro website.

We must advise you that your policy will only provide cover for unexpected and unforeseeable events. On the day you purchased your policy, it was very clear that the virus was a well-known event and that the claim submitted was something that could have been expected due to more and more countries being deemed not safe to travel due to the spreading of the virus.

We regret to advise that we are unable to consider your claim any further.

If you wish to raise a complaint due to the outcome, please email the Quality and Improvement team on Complaints@tifgroup.co.uk or alternately call them on 0203 829 6604.

    Mrbg07546,
Certainly complain and say only full payment will stop you taking to the Ombudsman.
