Hi i started work on march 14th so under new legislation thought id qualify for furlough. My company advised as i wasnt paid until 25th march they did not send my RTi off to HMRC until after i was paid and added that this is quite normal for large companies to do this. And as they cant claim furlough for me they have terminated my employment. Can i really be this unfortunate? Surely the government needs to lengthen the period for HMRC to have received the RTi of new employees? Any ideas please??

With less than 2 years service your employer can dismiss you without reason. I would suggest you look at a Benefits Calculator to see what you may be entitled toIf you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0

You may be able to claim Universal Credit.
Information here https://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/benefits/universal-credit/.
Claim online https://www.gov.uk/universal-credit/how-to-claimThere are online calculators to help you assess entitlement https://www.gov.uk/benefits-calculators
You will be excluded from claiming UC if you have capital/savings over £16,000.
Be aware that claiming UC will end any Tax Credits, Housing Benefit or other means tested benefits you currently get.
You may also be able to claim Council Tax Reduction from your local council.
Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.0 -
