Corona redundancy-Employer won't furlough

Hi Martin,
I was made redundant on the 24th of March due to corona induced company ‘streamlining’. I was at the small company 6 months as a PAYE and had positive relationships with all involved.
After hearing of the furlough scheme and my eligibility I contacted my employer and requested as to whether I could be put on the scheme, however after numerous consultations was told that they are unwilling to furlough me due to the uncertainty over resource allocation at this admittedly uncertain time.
I know the resources are available as it was previously my role to look after much of the money, and to add insult to injury I have since been made aware that the directors have also furloughed themselves. In essence they are business minded people and it would seem not incentivised to help me as they look after their own interests at this time.
Is there anything I can do? Is there any way I might be able to claim 80% of my wages back come May similarly to if I was self employed? Obviously otherwise in a sticky situation at the moment as I’m sure many are.
Any help greatly appreciated.

You cannot claim the furlough for yourself individually.
Further because they have refused your request to furlough via your employers there isn’t much you can do there either I’m afraid.
If you haven’t already done so I would suggest looking to apply for universal credit.0 -
The problem is the scheme has a lot of grey areas and many companies are not willing to take the risk.
