Coronavirus 0 hour contract

The Government Job Retention scheme is designed to protect people who rely on a regular income from our business, who otherwise would be unemployed. In order to apply a fair criteria, we have reviewed the work history of every colleague who has worked a minimum of 40 hours over the four month period from 1 November 2019 to 28 February 2020. We would expect any person who has not worked on average 2 shifts a month to not be deemed a regular worker.
We understand that there are a number of interpretations of how eligibility could be determined. We have decided on this criteria as we believe this is the fairest to our workforce as a whole. This considers those who work across multiple venues, the peaks and troughs of the event calendar, the nature of casual worker agreements and the indefinite period of time until business returns to normal. In the interest of consistency and fairness, there will be no option to revisit this differently on an individual basis. Unless further guidance is provided from the government.

Well, you're not actually entitled to be furloughed, it is at the discretion of the employer, and as they have explained they do not have guidance suggesting that you are eligible so they are opting not to furlough you. Only working one shift is quite clearly not regular work I'm afraid, so I can't say I disagree with their interpretation, sorry.0
