Furloughed

If you left work on 25 March’20 and planned to work for agency (registered) but due to coronavirus you did not start working then were lucky to be made furloughed by your old employer but on zero hours contract even though you were on a proper contract (guaranteed steady amount of hours monthly) beforehand, does that decreases your chances of being successfully being furloughed? Secondly how long before you should receive a confirmation email/correspondence? Is there any guidelines to it? When will you know if you will / will not receive 80% of your salary ? should you rather / when should you apply for universal credit to cover costs of living (It takes 5 weeks to be given money through it)? Can I apply for both and then give back universal credit back when being given 80% of salary?
please advise.
kind regards,

Universal credit and the 80% wages/furlough scheme are completely separate. If you are struggling financially then you should put a claim in for universal credit as soon as possible as it is 5 weeks from your application until you will receive any money depending on your earnings in the first assessment period.
Your questions regarding furlough are confusing to be honest. At one point you say you have been furloughed and then in the next sentence your not. If your old employer has indeed put you on furlough then I would expect for them to confirm what will happen in writing next. We are not your employer so couldn’t tell you how they are planning on dealing with that...0
