Universal Credit

Hi, my husband and I applied for universal credit. We had the phone call interview already and everything in our journal is done. It says on the 3rd of May we will find out how much we are to be paid and on the 7th we will be paid whatever we're entitled to. When checking if we can have a small advance it says they still have to verify if we are entitled. Does anyone know how long this usually takes? and do we have to actually wait until the 3rd to find out if we've been accepted or rejected? Thank you in advance.

If you ask for an advance it can be paid the same day, it should not take more than a few days. Be aware that if you take an advance it is a loan which has to be repaid by deduction from your next 12 payments. You4 future payments will therefore be less.Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.1

You will need to wait for your statement. In the meantime you can use a benefits calculator to see what you maybe entitled to. Whether you're entitled to anything will depend on your earnings during your assessment period and your circumstances. https://www.entitledto.co.uk/

Yourclaim has been accepted but your entitlement is calculated on the last day of your assessment period to take account of any money you have received during it. There is a new calculation every month.Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.1
