Gmail on Office Outlook 2013

I've set up the 'new' PC and put Office 2013 on it (as discussed in previous threads)
I set up a hotmail address (name@hotmail.com) for the MS account and that works fine in Office Outlook 2013
I thought it would be good to have a gmail account too so set up name@gmail.com which works fine on webmail but I can't for the life of me, get it to work on MS Outlook
I've tried IMAP and or POP with auto install and then manual install with every SSL/TLS etc setting combination and port setting that I can find, but all to no avail.
Has anyone got any hints as it seems I'm missing a trick somewhere!

You may need to actually log into your Gmail account and enable IMAP. I had to do this. If you are using POP this has to be enabled as well. Have a good look at all of your security settings on your Gmail account.....2

Have a look at this:If you have two factor verification on you need to generate an app password for Outlook (this is not the same as your Gmail password), otherwise you need to change a setting on your account for less secure apps.

On my PC (using Outlook 2019 but the settings should be similar for 2013):
Incoming Mail: Server = pop.gmail.com; Port = 995; Tick for encrypted (SSL/TLS) and Require password (SPA)
Outgoing mail: Server = smtp.gmail.com; Port = 587; Encryption STARTTLS; No tick for SPA, Tick for (SMTP) needs authentication, Choose Use same settings radio option
I have 2FA enabled so the password in the Incoming Mail section is the app password not my Gmail account password.1 -

SMTP port 587 is for TLS (STARTTLS the same I guess)
SMTP port 465 is for SSLIf you put your general location in your Profile, somebody here may be able to come and help you.0 -

For Incoming Mail set to pop I assume "Leave a copy of messages on the server." is ticked?1 -

I recall TLS being required when I used to use O2013 ... STARTTLS was applied by default when I went to O2019.1
