Nursery fees

As nurseries are shut due to covid 19 is it right for nurseries to ask for nursery fees? The nursery my Daughter attends asked for April's fees and I paid it, but they stated it would be held on my account and credited to me when the nursery reopens. I acked for some kind of credit note, but haven't received one. My concern is that if the nursery doesn't survive this that we may not recover our funds? Where do parents stand on this matter?

You can insist on a refund if they can't or won't provide the service.

However, at the moment, there is no realistic way of forcing a refund as the small claims courts are effectively closed and there will be a long queue when they reopen. So, sadly yes if they go bust in the meantime I'm afraid you join the list of unsecured creditors waiting for a percentage at best.
