Anyone can advise us please?

My wife finished working with her previous employer on 26 March after 07 years employment due to the company closing on this date. She was due to start a new job on 01st April. Unfortunately her new employers business was closed on government instructions between the 27th and 31st March.  Her new job is still there for her once things return to normal. She has contacted her previous boss to see if she can be rehired then furloughed but they have informed her the business is closed/finished so can’t. The new employer says if he could hire her he would then furlough her but at the moment can’t due to the furlough current conditions. Is there any advise you could give us please?

Presumably your wife got statutory redundancy pay from the previous employer? If they don't exist, they can't rehire her and furlough her. The new employer cannot furlough her because she wasn't on their payroll at 28 February 2020.
