Hello I’ve been following you online / tv / internet etc and have an issue re Furlough- I’m / was an employed barber and stared with my new employer on the 24/2 - I left my employed job as a barber in Birmingham on Saturday the 22 February, to start an employed role as a barber in Leamington wef 24 February 2020
As you know, following the government decision to close food areas (our shop was upstairs in a food / bar ) on Friday the 20 March I was told to go home - I have been paid up to this date BUT have just had a call / letter from the owners saying they are letting me go - I cannot have the 80% Furlough pay as the business only started trading on the 24 February and as it hasn’t been trading for 1 month, I am not entitled to the 80% payment ?

You are not entitled to the 80% payment, your employer may be if they meet the rules. It appears they have checked and since they can't recover any money they may pay you, they have had to let you go - as they couldn't do anything else.
- All land is owned. If you are not on yours, you are on someone else's
- When on someone else's be it a road, a pavement, a right of way or a property there are rules. Don't assume there are none.
- "Free parking" doesn't mean free of rules. Check the rules and if you don't like them, go elsewhere
- All land is owned. If you are not on yours, you are on someone else's and their rules apply.

My guess is they hadn't set up payroll by 28 February 2020, so don't qualify. There is no "trading for a month" rule I am aware of.
The guidance envisages cases where employees started in the month of February 2020.0 -
As has to be said so often in these threads, even if you qualified no employer is obliged to furlough if they don't want to.0
